Maggie Walker was recognized as a social and business leader by blacks and whites alike. She and Govenor Mann had mutual respect and admiration for one another. This 1913 acceptance letter confirmed Walker as a delegate representing Virginia in NewYork for the 50th Anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation.
